Holiday Bucket List

It’s that time of year where we want to make memories that last forever; I got your back with my Holiday bucket list! I absolutely love this time of year and I try to do anything and everything I can to fill it with amazing holiday activities. I have some favorite holiday activities just for you guaranteed to make this time of year memorable and venue a  bit more magical.

  • Peppermint hot chocolate (seasonal drinks)
    • Seasonal Drinks always are amazing to kick off and start the holiday season. When I go back Friday shopping I always make sure to grab a peppermint Mocha first to really put me in the mood.
    • Some of my favorites: Peppermint Mocha, Peppermint Hot Chocolate, Eggnog, Hot Apple Cider, and mulled wine.

  • Bake Cookies from Scratch
    • Making homemade cookies is one of my favorite pastimes. I make batches on bathes and make various different types.
    • Don’t be afraid to ask your parents or grandparents or even your great-grandparents for some family recipes. I am sure they exist
    • So far I’ve already made butter cookies, chocolate chip, gingerbread, and even peanut butter but I plan on making many many more

  • Holiday Movie Marathon (PJ party)
    • There is nothing better than ‘curling up on the couch watching holiday movies while sitting in your PJ. I mean there are so many amazing holiday movies!
    • Santa Claus(s), Polar Express, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Scrooge, Christmas with the Kranks, Home Alone(s), Jingle all the way, White Christmas, It’s a wonderful life, Nutcracker, Miracle on 34st, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
    • Or maybe you like to do what my mom does which is watch Hallmark and lifetime.

  • See the Christmas/Holiday light
    • I love seeing all the Christmas lights and holiday decorations up on people’s houses or even if it’s up at an actually paid place
    • Like NYC has a street in Dyker Heights where all the residents completely deck out their yards and homes.
    • PLUS tons of places have a holiday light show like amusement parks, zoos, and many other places.
    • Go see some EPIC places decorated with Christmas Lights
    • As a kid we use to get into my dad’s station wagon ad drive around town listening to Christmas music looking at all the decorations.

  • Toys for Tots (or other forms of charity)
    • It is the season for giving and helping those less fortunate take some time and do some good!
    • There are many different forms, Toys for Tots, Food Pantry, Salvation Army, and many other amazing charities out there. I mean you could even get a group together and adopt a family in need.
    • For me being able to help someone in need during the holidays is always a must and I make sure I do some form of charity work each holiday season.

  • Holiday Photo Shoot
    • Get dressed up, look cute, and have some fun! You do not have to hire a photographer, all you need to do is take some cute Christmas photos.
    • You can use them for your Christmas card or even for your own personal pleasure!
    • Use this as a time to just have fun and totally embrace the season

  • Ugly Sweater Party
    • Get some friends and have that UGLY sweater competition! Make it big! Try and

  • Holiday Party
    • Throw a big holiday party or even attend one! The holidays are ment to be spent and surrounded by people you love and care about and people who love and care about you.
    • Plus you can do so many things at a holiday party! (a lot that is even on this list!!!!)

  • Decorate the House
    • Get into the holiday spirit and decorate your house!
    • Now i am not saying break the bank but go to the dollar store or hobby lobby or any discount shop and grab some decorations that will give your house, apartment, bedroom, or maybe even your desk ome extra holiday cheer

  • Visit Santa
    • You may be grown up but everyone should go see Santa, take a photo pretend that you’re a little kid again
    • This time of year is all about believing in magic, things we cannot see, and teh impossible. Go see Santa and get a little extra holiday magic
    • Plus a holiday photo

  • Do Towns Holiday Time
    • Every town has holiday activities you can do or see.
    • See what your town offers and join in the festivities that they offer
    • Tree lighting? Vigils? Caroling? Snowman competition? Bar Crawl?

  • Holiday DIY
    • Create your own holiday decor or maybe even your own holiday sweater. Take time to create something either just for you or maybe others!
    • Homemade snow globes, or hot coca bombs!
    • It could be anything you want it to be but by creating something you know its quality as well as it’s going to match your aesthetic and can be with you for years to come!

  • Track Santa!
    • If you have little kids or cousins you see on Christmas eve track Santa!
    • Track Santa Here
    • This was a huge hit when my sister was young she got to see all the “places” Santa was visiting and knew when he was getting close that she had to go to bed so Santa would stop by the house

  • Caroling
    • “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear” -Elf
    • I love singing along to the carols as they come on the radio; I have a huge playlist with all my favorite songs.
    • Now you can join a choir, and dress up and sing all the power to you. I like to do it in the car as I drive around and look at all the Christmas lights

  • Create a new family tradition
    • I’ve said it before the holidays should be spent with people you love and care for you just like you love and care for them. Take time to spend time and make memories with them
    • No a great time to start a family tradition be the whole month of december you watch a  christmas movie each night, or you have a gingerbread house competition, or maybe even how you decorate the tree.
    • The options are endless so take the time to make memories for a lifetime, that get passed down for years to come.

  • Create a popcorn garland
    • This could be your DIY craft!! Popcorn garlands are a great way to create you own decoration but also to add your own personal touches to your tree or your outdoor decorations
    • These are great as outdoor decorations though the animals may snack on them

  • Secret Santa, White Elephant, or Yankee Swap
    • These are great easy to save money during the holidays and also can be a ton of fun when a large group of people!
    • I always think its great at work parties or even just among friends
    • If you need any gift ideas take a look here

  • Visit/see Town Tree
    • Most towns if not all towns have a town tree! Go see it no matter how big or small you are part of the town so technically its a part of you.

  • Visit/Shop at the Stores and Restaurants Decorated
    • My dad has a rule that he will not eat at a restaurant or shop at a  store that isn’t decorated for Christmas or the holidays
    • He just wants to make sure that no matter where he is he is involved in the holiday spirit and cheer!
    • Personally I love it I love seeing how differs places go all out and really bring the holidays spirit to their store r restaurant. Its amazing how creative people get! (I mean have you seen some of the windows in NYC?!?!)

Now the holiday bucket list is not meant to stress you out, break your bank, or do anything negative. The whole point of the holiday bucket list is to add a  bit more cheer, spirit and to make sure you’re truly enjoying this holiday season! I love this time of year and I want everyone to make the most of it. I hope this inspires you to make some new memories this holiday season. Let me know what is on your holiday bucket list and what you do to make the holiday season magical and memorable. -Your unofficial big sis KMH
